Supermarket chain hopes to build new store in Ballasalla
The planning department has been pressed on details about a new Shoprite in the south of the Island.
Concerns have been raised after it was revealed a new store could be built at the old Whitestone Garage site in Ballasalla.
Shoprite owners, Isle of Man Enterprises PLC, suggested there was a demand for a supermarket in the area.
Chairman of Malew Commissioners Nigel Bazley says the authority wants to welcome new businesses to the region but has reservations about what impact the proposed new store will have.
