The opportunity for local residents to directly address planning committee meetings about developments in their area could be a step closer, after Tynwald debated planning in the Isle of Man.
The Department of Local Government and the Environment saw its review of the way planning works debated by the court, with calls for a more streamlined, open and fairer system.
Among the changes being mooted is a proposal for the planning committee to meet in public when it decides to grant permission or refuse it.
DoLGE Minister John Shimmin says that could mean people getting the chance to put their case in person to the planners (play audio file):
Tynwald voted to receive the planning review.
