Hopes for support by the end of the year
Plans are in place to have an interim service for ME/ Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Long Covid sufferers on the Island by the end of the year.
Former Health Minister David Ashford, in a written answer in response to a question from Garff MHK Daphne Caine, says a business case has been approved by Manx Care and the DHSC and is awaiting consideration by Treasury.
Meanwhile, the interim service will be created by 'reallocating existing resources and funding'.
Juan Corlett is a committee member with ME Support IoM and has suffered from the condition since 2018.
He says he's delighted to hear the service is progressing:
It's hoped a transition to a full service will be made available once the revenue bid for the 2022/23 calendar year has been authorised.
