Onchan District Commissioners have agreed to the erection of an obelisk on the headland above Port Jack beach.
Visit Isle of Man, the tourism agency of the Department for Enterprise, approached the authority for permission to install the 1.8-meter-high feature.
The stone pillar will have directional information engraved on it, and forms part of a greater effort to improve signage along the Raad Ny Foillan route.
Similar obelisks are planned for Peel, Port Erin and Ramsey, in a bid to enhance the 'visitor experience', and provide walkers with a photo opportunity.
At a meeting this week, commissioners welcomed the proposal, but said they require further information on designs and maintenance of the feature before formally granting permission.
