A Douglas-based company is hoping to convert a large house in the capital into a new private primary school.
Colombo Enterprises, based in Athol Street, wants to transform Eaglehurst on Belmont Hill into a private education facility.
It’s applied for planning permission to change the use of the building from a home into a school for three to 11-year olds.
Known as Market Square Preparatory School, it’s already registered with the Island’s Board of Education.
In its application, the company says it aims to provide seven classes in total with no more than ten children in each.
The building’s basement would house a pre-school facility with around 16 children attending.
It would employ seven full-time teachers, and three part-timers, as well as three admin staff.
