Permanent memorial for Douglas
There are plans to have a temporary war memorial on Douglas Head made permanent.
A giant poppy, comprised of hundreds of smaller live flowers, was created in 2014 to mark a hundred years since the start of the First World War.
Since then it has been regrown several times - and even recoloured in blue and yellow as a forget-me-not for Alzheimer's awareness.
Now Douglas Borough Council wants to cover the 16.5 metre poppy in red and black rubber, to preserve it in time for the centenary of the end of the Great War.
In its planning application, the authority says it will be a 'lasting tribute to the fallen and those involved in conflicts'.
