Work planned for Point of Ayre site
Measures to further develop the Point of Ayre Nature Reserve are to be progressed early next year subject to planning approval.
The Manx Birdlife reserve is contained within a former quarry and the proposal is to landscape the entrance area to the site which formerly contained the quarry weighbridge and hardstanding.
New paths will allow wheelchair and pushchair access; they'll lead to a circular seating area protected by low mounds made from materials within the quarry area and vegetated using seeds transplanted from within the site.
Bat boxes will be erected on telegraph poles to increase biodiversity.
