This morning, next to a grey sea, a ceremony took place on Douglas promenade to honour a small group of very brave men and women.
The work of the Royal Air Force Air Sea Rescue Unit around the Isle of Man has been officially remembered by a plaque on the sea wall, next to the Sea Terminal.
Jim Ferguson served with the unit and was behind the idea of mounting the memorial:
