Minister pledges mandatory charge will be introduced
A mandatory charge for plastic bags will be introduced on the Island in the future.
Minister for the Environment, Food and Agriculture, Geoffrey Boot, made the pledge in Tynwald on Tuesday (20th)
Schemes are currently run on a voluntary basis, with larger retailers such as Tesco, Marks & Spencer and Boots.
Speaking in the chamber, Mr Boot told members it's important the issue is addressed on a Manx scale and not simply following the UK.
