It's been confirmed the glass, ceramics and metal which has been appearing on the Groves Road playing fields is a legacy of landfill tipping, dating back to the early days of the Pulrose estate.
Douglas Corporation has declared the area a "no go zone" for safety reasons, after a survey confirmed the material was coming from an underground source.
Borough Engineer and Surveyor Ian Clague says the objects have been in their present location for around 60 years.
He told John Moss the challenge was to stop them appearing (play attached audio file):
