Chief Constable speaks to Tynwald committee
Addressing mental health issues directly with offenders on the Island would reduce the amount of offences committed.

He was speaking after giving evidence to a Tynwald Select Committee investigating the severity of mental ill-health in the Island, its impact on public services and resources in place to deal with issues.
In his evidence he quoted figures from MIND which stated that 9 out of 10 offenders have mental health issues.
The Chief Constable said a different approach to those with mental health issues could yield benefits
