Members of the public went to help a taxi driver, after an incident on Douglas Promenade last night.
It happened close to the Moby Dick fish and chip shop and the Hilton hotel.
There has been no comment from the police, but a man is understood to be helping officers with their inquiries.
The woman taxi driver suffered a back injury, as a result of braking hard.
Passers by and other taxi drivers helped the woman, under police officers arrived.
