'Lack of resource' reported to minister
Stretched police resources mean officers don't record information on drivers stopped on Manx roads - that from the Home Affairs Minister, Bill Malarkey.
He was responding to a question by Garff MHK, Daphne Caine in Tynwald today.
She wanted to know how many people were stopped and cautioned, for smoking in cars with minors present since March last year, when it was made illegal.
Mrs Caine says if officers record information on minor offences regardless, it'd show the department how under-resourced the Constabulary actually is.
However, details of drivers searched by police when they're pulled over are publicly released in the Chief Constable's Annual Report.
Mr Malarkey disagreed, saying he knows it's a problem, because it's reported to him on a monthly basis:
