Police in Lancashire have admitted trucks which had been used on the Island's roads were roadworthy when they were stopped at Heysham in October.
The force has also issued an apology to Norfolk-based haulage company RJ Holbrook, which sent eight wagons here to transport materials for the Ronaldsway Airport runway extension scheme.
On their return to England they were stopped by officers from Lancashire, following an anonymous tip-off, and two of the vehicles were apparently deemed unroadworthy.
This came to light when a United Kingdom media Freedom of Information request was made.
The Lancashire constabulary has now admitted the details it released were wrong and none of the RJ Holbrook vehicles checked could be described as unroadworthy.
