Officers dismiss social media 'nonsense' about enforcement
Don’t believe the hype, say police – speed limits are real and breaking them will land you in trouble.
Officers say they’ve spotted posts on a TT Facebook group telling people the Island’s limits are only recommendations that can be ignored because they're not enforceable.
But the Roads Policing Unit says if you’re caught breaking the speed limit you can expect penalty points and a fine or even a court appearance for speeding.
Inspector Derek Flint says don't believe everything you read on social media:

Mountain Road to stay closed overnight
BMA finds less than a quarter of doctors recommend working at Manx Care
Thirteen people entered or tried to enter the Island without immigration permission since January 2025
Abuse towards bus drivers 'will not be tolerated'
