The motorcyclist who died in an accident on the Mountain Road yesterday (Friday) morning was a visitor to the Isle of Man from Shrewsbury.
Police say 29-year-old Mathew Alexander Evans came off his Honda Fireblade machine while attempting to negotiate the left-hand bends at the Mountain Box.
The cause of the accident is still being investigated, and police say many lines of inquiry are being pursued.
It's not know whether any other vehicles were involved, or if there were any witnesses to what happened.
The accident happened in the half hour from 7.50am, and officers are appealing for anybody who saw the blue, red and white Fireblade ridden by Mr Evans as it approached the Mountain Box.
Anyone with information is asked to get in touch with the Roads Policing Unit, on 631212.
