Anyone who would like to see more bobbies on the beat in the Island is being urged to consider supporting the police force themselves.
The Isle of Man Constabulary has launched a recruitment drive to attract a new intake of community volunteers.
In 2006, 30 members of the public signed up to help the Manx force on a voluntary, part-time basis.
Duties range from general administration to helping victims and witnesses of crime.
On today's Talking Heads programme, Superintendent Paul Cubbon said there was no end to the different duties that could be performed to help keep the Island safe.
However, he stressed volunteers would never be placed in a confrontational environment and full training was always given.
