Camera device to be piloted at FoM
Island police officers will be putting the force's new drone through its paces in a test flight this afternoon (18 Aug).
The Constabulary is to use the device as an airborne camera during the Festival of Motorcycling fortnight, from this weekend.
Police are confident the drone will reduce demand on officers, helping ensure roads re open more quickly after serious collisions.
Inspector Alan Thompson says there's a chance to see the DJ1 Phantom 4 demonstrated on a sports field outside police headquarters at 2pm.
So how much experience does the force have using drone technology?
