
The Island is a safe place and the police don't have to carry guns all the time, but we must have an armed response capability.
Firearms Officer Stuart Barker (pictured) says the Isle of Man force currently has about 25 regular officers who're also trained to use guns and can be deployed when necessary.
But he says someone's ability with a firearm isn't the only quality they look for:
