Scammers exploiting Covid-19 pandemic
Island police are warning about a scam exploiting the current Covid-19 situation, which poses as a charity.
Officers says fraudsters are pretending to be online agents, asking questions about age and vulnerability.
The offenders are said to get the victim to buy Amazon gift cards and send codes back to the ‘charity’.
Police want to assure everyone that this is not a genuine charity and for anyone with an elderly relative or know anyone living alone, should warn them about it as soon as possible.
