Ahead of a taxi strike, due to start in the next hour, police are urgung people planning to go out in Douglas, who usually use taxis to get home, to make alternative arrangements.
The constabulary has been told cab drivers will be taking action between 11.30pm and 1.30 tomorrow morning.
Police are taking a neutral stance in relation to the protests, but are warning the public with regard to safety.
There are also no guarantees there will be any taxis available after 1.30am as, police say, it is possible those involved in the protest will not return to work for the last part of their shift.
A police statement says, although Douglas is generally a very safe place, it is not advisable for anyone to walk home alone so late at night, and the public should carefully consider their plans.
Cab drivers are protesting at government plans to de-limit the Island's taxi trade.
The matter is due to go before Tynwald next week.
