This year's annual Poppy Appeal is underway as the Island prepares to mark Remembrance Sunday (9 November) and Armistice Day (11 November).
This Sunday, a national two minute silence in remembrance of all those who have died in the service of their country will be observed on the Isle of Man at 11am.
Jim Cottier is the Chairman of the Isle of Man branch of the Royal British Legion, which supports veterans, service members, and their families who are in need.
He told Manx Radio why the Island, historically, has gone above and beyond in respect of the Poppy Appeal:
