A man from Port Erin died from a shotgun wound to the head, an inquest has heard.
Coroner of Inquests Michael Moyle heard Robert Karran's body was found in the back garden of his home on Ballafesson Terrace on December 12th and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 41-year-old was identified by his father five days later.
The police do not believe there was anyone else involved, nor were there suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
Mr Moyle apologised for holding the inquest so close to Christmas but he felt it was important to do so so the body could be released to the family.
The inquest has been adjourned to a date to be set to allow for reports to be drawn up.
