Crash wouldn't have been prevented by dredging
Did the Ben-my-Chree run aground last night? That's the question Manx Radio pitched at the director of Ports.
The answer will come later this morning from investigations being carried out by divers; who are looking to determine if the damage is superficial, or structural.
Ann Reynolds says the crash wasn't down to a need for dredging in the port - rather, a higher tide coupled with wind conditions would have resulted in more damage as the ship collided with the King Edward Pier.
The master is being praised for bringing the Ben in safely.
