Spuds have had their chips
Parents are voicing concern over the sudden disappearance of jacket potatoes from school canteens up and down the Island.
The Department of Health and Social Care, which governs what appears on the lunchtime menus, told dinnerladies to stop serving the staple last week.
Baked potatoes contain no fat, salt or cholesterol, and provide a source of fibre, potassium and vitamin C.
The ban has prompted the head teacher of Ballacottier School, Carol Walsh, to send letters home asking parents to share their views with DHSC staff directly.
She says many have been left disappointed.
The DHSC has been contacted for comment.
