Social Metrics Commission gives evidence to Tynwald panel
A select committee looking to define poverty on the Isle of Man, has taken evidence from a UK think-tank this morning.
The Tynwald panel has been hearing from Baroness Philippa Stroud, who is the CEO of the Legatum Institute and founder of the Social Metrics Commission.
The Manx government says it chose the SMC because it looks at 'total available resources, unavoidable costs including disability, housing, childcare and debt, equivalised for family size.'
Baroness Stroud says their data has proved some previously anecdotal claims:
