The Manx Electricity Authority says it has no alternative but to cut off power to some businesses in Victoria Street in Douglas this evening (Tuesday).
Contractors, working on the promenade renovation around the Jubilee Clock, have cut through a cable.
To repair it, the MEA will have to isolate the area and they have put that off until 6pm so most businesses will be unaffected.
But a number of places, such as pubs and clubs, will be hit.
The MEA says it has to do the work as the situation is potentially dangerous and it's doing all it can to affect as few people as possible.
