Many families entitled to pre-school credit will receive more than twice the previous amount from September.
Government has announced it is doubling the money it spends on the scheme from nearly £500,000 to £1 million.
There are an estimated 1,000 families which will be entitled to the credit in 2014/15.
Parents of children who reach four between September 1 this year and August 31 next year will be eligible for £800 towards the cost of pre-school.
They received £350 in 2013/14.
Those who receive Employed Person's Allowance, Income Support or income-based Jobseeker's Allowance will get £1,500, a £350 increase.
The extra funds are available because of the savings made by means-testing child benefit.
Parents must apply to the Department of Education and Children for the credit.
