
Smoking at any time during pregnancy can affect the unborn child.
That's the message from a Manx midwife in the wake of a report which suggests that smoking in pregnancy is far less damaging than commonly supposed.
It suggested that mothers could safely smoke for five months into the pregnancy.
Mary O'Connor, speaking on Manx Radio (Fri) this morning, says the report was too narrowly focused:
