The Agriculture Minister is warning of a rise in the price of food in the coming years.
It follows a six per cent increase in the cost of a pint of milk, up three pence to 53 pence a pint.
An advisory committee comprising government, consumer and dairy industry figures made the recommendation, although the Manx National Farmers Union says it's not enough.
Phil Gawne (pictured) sympathises with the argument, but says prices will inevitably rise in the future:
