Pupils from Jurby primary school were the first children in the Island to glide onto the Sure Skate ice rink today (Monday).
They won a schools competition to design an advert for the skating venue and part of the prize was to have a private lesson with Dancing on Ice star Kyran Bracken, who travelled to the Island for the official launch of the facility this evening.
The rink, housed in a huge marquee in the Villa Marina gardens, opens to the public for six weeks from tomorrow (Tuesday), and is big enough for 200 people to skate at the same time.
Kyran, whose company is behind the attraction, says everything is almost ready for the public to get their skates on:
Three-month wait for state pension forecast statements
OFT to investigate possible regulation of funeral directors
"One of the Island's foremost champions of Manx heritage" to receive Tynwald Honour
No timeline yet for reinstatement of rehab service to north
Venezuela Fury & Noah Price wedding "a true showcase of the breadth and quality of Manx services"
