Issue will be have to be revisited
The Chief Minister says whilst a motion to corporatise the Post Office has been rejected in Tynwald - the major principle was accepted.
Five of six recommendations contained in an independent report assessing its future operation were defeated after members felt the Island would not benefit from running the post office as a state-owned company rather than a statutory board.
Members did support the principle of corporatisation by backing the other recommendation.
The vote was 12-12 in the Keys, which meant the proposals failed, despite getting support in the Legislative Council by six votes to three.
Allen Bell says the issue will now have to be revisited, but the overall aim remains the same . .
