23-year-old's actions saw trial stopped
A 23-year-old man has been jailed after being caught taking a picture on Snapchat during a trial.
Kyle Reece Wright was seen snapping the defendants, and the security officers, at Douglas Courthouse whilst the prosecution was laying information before a jury.
The trial was stopped as a result of his actions.
Wright later pleaded guilty to being in contempt of court.
It’s not known what happened to the photograph, to who it was sent and how many times it was distributed.
Sending Wright to prison for six months Deemster Graeme Cook told him that due to his previous criminal record he’d been in the court building on numerous occasions so couldn’t plead ignorance or naivety.
He told him: "You must have seen the various notices and, in particular on this day, there is a large white backed document with black writing which clearly says you should not do what you indeed did.”
