
Prison governor Alison Gomme says going to jail’s not as easy as some people claim.
Answering claims the new Jurby prison is too easy on prisoners, she said anyone serving time will tell you it’s not at all easy.
She admitted there are facilities for sport and recreation inside the prison walls and prisoners do have access to TV.
But Mrs Gomme says custodial sentences can’t mean locking people away for 24 hours a day.
