Sewell brings 'prohibited' item into Jurby
A prison officer has been sentenced to a year in prison after bringing a prohibited article into the Jurby facility.
Thirty-year-old Robert Sewell from Douglas has been given a 12-month custodial sentence after pleading guilty.
Acting prison governor Leroy Bonnick said the conviction emphasises the Prison and Probation Service's determination to give offenders the chance to rehabilitate, and to keep the public safe.
Sewell had been employed by the prison service for two years, with the offence being committed last August.
