32-year-old couldn't remember incident
A Jurby woman who was abusive to a nurse during a visit to hospital has been placed under a yearlong probation order.
Caley Brown, of The Bretney, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour at Noble’s Hospital on 23 July last year.
The 32-year-old was in Accident and Emergency when she called for the medical professional’s assistance – when the nurse entered Brown swore at her before throwing a blanket in her face.
She then proceeded to shout and swear in front of other patients; in police interview Brown said she couldn’t remember what had happened and was upset by her actions.
During sentencing at Douglas Courthouse a probation officer told the court: "She was in a very distressed state."
Ordering Brown to work with the probation service High Bailiff Jayne Hughes told her: “It is of course a serious offence”.
Brown was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £50.
