"Buy Manx" is the message after it emerged up to 100,000 Irish pigs are to be destroyed in the wake of a contamination scare.
Police have been called in to investigate how high levels of dioxins got into the animals' feed.
Local pork farmer Shaun Dean says the future of the Isle of Man's pork industry should be secure, providing it is supported.
On Mandate today he said:
"Because we are so small now, I don't think anywhere could have a better opportunity to trace meat.
"Our pigs are fed a mixture of Manx barley and Manx wheat.
"At the moment, all we can tell people is 'buy Manx'. Make sure when you are going out to eat or going to a shop ask yourself the question - is this Manx produce?
"Our pigs are then sent to the meat plant, they are met by a vet and a meat inspector, and it's only when they are 100 per cent sure that this pig is fine for the human consumption of the Isle of Man that that animal goes out to the public."
