The Department of Transport has confirmed the Mountain Road will remain closed this evening and overnight, despite attempts today to clear the remaining snow drifts.
Teams from the Works Division worked on the road all day but the snow was too tightly packed to be moved with a snow plough or blade.
However, progress has been made and another inspection and further works will be undertaken tomorrow.
In addition, an emergency closure is in place on the Creg-ny-Baa Back Road, after the surface broke up following the recent snow and freezing temperatures.
The DoT has been carrying out resurfacing work and the road will be opened as soon as it is safe to do so.
