Patients to receive letters today
Thousands of patients at a Douglas medical practice are due to get a letter today to say it faces closure.
It's understood the Promenade Medical Centre has been unable to recruit a replacement GP.
If the town centre facility closes it will put pressure on other practices, particularly in Douglas, as the Department for Health will need to find places for current list of people at the Promenade surgery.
There are over 4,000 patients at the practice.
The Medical Centre was originally on Douglas Promenade before it moved to its current location at Chester Street car park.
There has been a well-publicised shortage of GPs in the UK.
It's understood nothing will happen at the Promenade Medical Centre before the end of June.
