Tynwald votes in favour of multi-million pound scheme
Tynwald has voted in support of a complete refurbishment of Douglas Promenade.
The £21 million scheme, between Strathallan Crescent and the Sea Terminal, was given the near-unaminous go-ahead this afternoon.
MLC Tim Crookall was the only member of Tynwald to vote against the plans.
He said he continues to oppose the proposals for a twin horse tramway on the northern end of the Promenade - a commitment which was approved by the court last year.
Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer says he's 'overwhelmed' to have secured the agreement, and works will start in September 2018.
It's estimated to take three years to complete.
