MHK raises 'concerns' over spend on publicising plans for Earystane
Almost £76,000 of taxpayers’ money has been spent publicising plans for an onshore wind farm at Earystane.
Manx Utilities hosted eight drop-in sessions, around the Island, in October to promote the Cair Vie Wind Project.
The authority claims it will ‘harness’ natural renewable energy resources with four turbines which could generate more than a quarter of the Island’s electricity needs.
More than £8,000 was spent on a media campaign and £7,500 on the production and distribution of leaflets.
A further £59,600 was spent running the public events which 700 people attended – this included venue hire, consultant attendance and a VAR experience.
