DEFA minister to address emissions with new measures
Changes to building regulations on the Island will be put to Tynwald this month.
The proposals brought forward by the environment minister will aim to improve the energy efficiency of any future construction.
It could also see the Standard Assessment Procedure or 'SAP ratings' introduced, a measure which will increase annually to 2031.
According to data by the environment department, building emissions are higher than that of surface transport on the Island.
It forms part of government’s climate emergency goal of achieving a carbon neutral Island in the next thirty years.
If approved, the regulations will come into effect by the end of December 2019.
