MU chair says there is a 'clear need' to expand charger network

Manx Utilities recently submitted a planning application seeking to convert 20 hire car parking spaces into six rapid EV charging bays with a solar canopy and battery storage.
The authority has made a funding request to the Climate Change Transformation Board, and is awaiting the outcome.
In response to a Tynwald question, Chair John Wannenburgh MHK says the project is a 'critical enabler' of the Island's transition to sustainable transport, and there is a 'clear need to expand the network of rapid charging points to meet growing demand'.
Government figures show there are 1,600 registered EVs on the Island, but only four rapid charging points currently available.
