Marketplace scheme a step too far for some
Around 100 people have staged a protest in Peel to voice opposition at the transformation of the town's marketplace.
Residents are unhappy at the design and materials used in the scheme, which they say do nothing to enhance the area.
The refurb is part of the government's Town and Village Centre Regeneration programme, which aims to improve the environment for residents and visitors, create a public space for community events and attract new investment.
Saturday's protest was organised by local commissioner Hazel Hannan - despite the local authority having officially backed the plans.
Work is still ongoing in the marketplace and Peel commissioners say they will add landscaping and new lighting when it's finished.
