Talks on the future of the Bishop's political vote has come to a halt after the proposals were adjourned following calls for a public consultation.
Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper's private members' bill has so far passed two stages in the House of Keys but before it can be given its final reading, politicians will now need to consider the public's thoughts.
A report will then be compiled and published.
Manx Radio's John Moss asked Mr Hooper how he thought the church might perceive this development:
