German Commissioners say they’re shocked after the Department of Infrastructure began dumping silt dredged from Peel Harbour at Poortown yesterday.
Trucks delivering the contaminated material to settlement ponds caused outrage in Peel yesterday after a number of spills in the town as the operation got underway.
The German board has organised a public meeting for Thursday in St John’s Methodist Hall starting at 7.30pm to discuss the dumping.
Chairman Matthew Wadsworth says he thought the DoI would wait until then before carrying out the work – and says the meeting will be a chance for those affected to let the government know how they feel:
