
Local businesses and residents are invited to hear detailed plans for a new ferry service to the Island at a public meeting this evening (Friday 26).
The boss of Ellan Vannin Line will give a presentation at Noble's Park pavilion from 6pm, on his vision for a freight operation between Heysham and Douglas from the autumn, with passenger services to follow by TT next year.
Since launching the venture in early June, Captain Kurt Bochholz has held a series of meeting with interested firms and members of the government.
The Steam Packet's user agreement with the Manx government means Ellan Vannin Line not could not use the harbour linkspan.
Instead the firm says it will unload on King Edward pier.
Captain Buchholz will outline progress so far before taking questions from the floor.
He admits many people are sceptical that a rival to the Steam Packet can succeed:
