An MHK will be seeking clarification over public sector salaries and pensions at tomorrow's sitting of Tynwald.
Onchan member Peter Karran has a raft of questions for written answer in which he will call for the public sector to fall into line with the private in terms of wages, contributions to pensions and the like.
Mr Karran believes there could be dire consequences if action isn't taken.
He told Manx Radio:
"If we don't address that issue sooner rather than later, what we are doing is creating another 'black hole' for our kids.
"The only debt we want to leave our kids is a debt of gratitude, and we are not going to do that.
"Even allowing for this, we might need to take other actions, as far as the issue of increasing contributions on the existing scheme.
"But I would hope that that would recognise that the ones who are going to get more out of the system at the top will pay more in.
"That includes members of Tynwald and I made that clear from day one."
