MHK takes positives after Tynwald stalemate
The MHK who proposed a more 'ambitious' set of government targets on climate change says the public should feel heartened by the debate last week, despite Tynwald ending in stalemate on the issue.
Lawrie Hooper argued the Island should be carbon neutral by 2035, not 2050 as is currently aimed for.
But after the House of Keys and Legislative Council failed to agree on an amendment tabled by the environment minister, the topic will now be revisited next month.
Mr Hooper says rather than feeling disillusioned by the delay - caused by political process - the public can take positives from what was said.
