A Pulrose man has been given a five-month jail term, suspended for 18 months, after admitting a string of offences.
Gary David Smith of Hazel Crescent admitted affray, destroying property and possessing an offensive weapon.
Rosemary Burnett, prosecuting, told magistrates police were called to a house in Pulrose shortly after 7pm on January 23.
The occupant told officers he’d heard knocking on a window, and when he opened the door he was confronted by Smith, who was carrying a six-inch long knife.
The householder shut the door and called police, who later arrested Smith at his home.
Dawn Jones, appearing for Smith, said the 39-year-old needed help to stop binge drinking and control his temper.
Magistrates also imposed an 18-month supervision order and warned him it was his last chance.
They said if Smith breached his supervision order, he’d be brought back before the court.
